Hombres Hablando (2009)
Director: M Richards DOP
J Rouse
A
short drama co-produced by The Guerin Group and Trainwreck
20/20, Hombres Hablando is spanish for ‘men talking’
The film is an uncensored, philosophical piece, full of
meditations and mantras for a modern life. Two men, Jackson and
Pollack, meet at a bar, the purpose unclear. Over the course of
14 minutes, the men take the audience on an uncompromising
journey through their intimate fears, dreams and observations.
Hombres Hablando is the first short drama in eight years from
music video director, Matthew Richards.
The script was written whilst Matt was on sabbatical in
Indonesia in 2007. Brendan Guerin came onboard as Co-producer in
2008 after reading the script and sitting in on rehearsals. The
pair decided to fund it in whole themselves.
The film was shot in full HD over one night on the 8th
of December 2008. It is the first small step in a series toward
longer form drama and was designed primarily as a learning curve
and as a platform from which to attract funding for future
projects.
Dan Purdey (Jackson) and Matt Rainey (Pollack) are both
Melbourne based actors who put a great deal of time and effort
into the pre-production phase of the film. The producers would
like to thank and acknowledge them for their contribution.
